And here I am, having finally read it.įrankly, it isn’t my favourite series by her – it lacks the sophistication and style and ‘Schwabness’ that makes some of her later works so good. But then Titan Books announced they were binding up the series under one name and releasing it in the UK! (They’re releasing The Near Witch in 2019, too). Both were out of print and somewhat tricky to get hold of. I had heard of this series, being a fan of Schwab’s work, but I didn’t think I’d read it – just how I didn’t think I’d read her debut novel, The Near Witch. Unless Mac can piece together what remains, the Archive itself may crumble and fall. And yet, someone is deliberately altering Histories, erasing essential chapters. In the Archive, the dead must never be disturbed.
